During the meeting, emerging artists with migrant backgrounds will for the first time pitch about their artistic practices for the professional community in Warsaw. In a matter of minutes, the artists will talk about their backgrounds, ambitions, and aspirations in search of new audiences and opportunities.
These short artist talks are prepared during a month-long workshop “Portfolio Management for Artists” organised by art curator Olga Klip, where artists revise their professional portfolios preparing themselves for new intense professional experiences.
The focus of curatorial and managerial practice by Olga Klip is the reintegration of art into everyday life, overcoming elitism in art institutions, empowering people to work with and for people outside the audience for high art. She works with under-represented artists, particularly in situations of cultural exclusion, which may be due to the centre-periphery dichotomy or the restrictions practised by cultural institutions.
The project was supported by Staromiejski Dom Kultury and Stołeczne Miasto Warszawa.
