BŁAŻEJ PINDOR: FUGUE STATE

Between 2013 and 2014 Błażej Pindor photographed Warsaw buildings designed by functionalist architect Romuald Gutt, who worked in Poland from 1920s to 1960s. The title of the show: Fugue State designates a particular state of mind, where individuals lose their identity, forgeting their names or anything about their former lives. The project started as a classic photographic recording of architecture (large format camera, black and white film). Yet it turned into a mental journey across materiality and time, where past and present are melted together into a new narrative, and forgetting enables new perception of space.
