Grzegorz Stefański ”restraint”, 35 x 28 cm, pigment print on archival paper / dibond, edition 1/5, 2016
Two men in military uniform demonstrate a trick to overpower a civilian. The photograph has been taken on the set of Grzegorz Stefański’s film restraint (2016). The film presents a choreography of aggression and resistance, which has its source in historical reconstructions. Its theme is the thin line between a Sunday theatre of entertainment and the threat of real violence. Members of the historical reconstruction groups ‘Radosław 44’ and ‘GRF Bemowo’ took part in the film.
Grzegorz Stefański is an artist working in Poland and London, he graduated from the Faculty of Media Art at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in 2016, and from the Slade School of Art in London in 2018.
