“More than one specimen” combines nature mockument with an emotional concert of pop music. Inspired by the world of wild animals and the performers’ own experience, the project aims to overcome the traditional narratives known from famous TV nature series. Instead of praising the family as a basic nature foundation filled with images of strong mates dominating females or brutal hunting scenes, the collective group of performers propose different topics and visions: radical matriarchate of elephants, gender-fluent fish and incomprehensible empathy of some predatory animals.
The performance reverses our typical attitude towards animals: it does not try to humanize them, but rather wonders what we can learn from them. In ‘More than one specimen’, human fatigue and human perspective provoke us to study nature. To create a new herd.
